This is more like a weekly class than a session, at least right now while we're building up a group repertoire. Everyone's welcome, but for now all should expect to learn the melodies (i.e. learn tune first, work on drumming and strumming after). We're teaching them phrase by phrase, by ear, and right now average about one tune per hour.
If you want to come and learn tunes (or help to teach them, and technique), head for Room 1201, AKA "The Fishbowl," between 7:00 and 10:00 PM. Tape recorders are extremely welcome.
Hey Lisa -- you should consider joining us at http://www.slowplayers.org -- a great resource for slow sessions and the players who need to find them. Write Mike Duffy and talk to him about setting up a webpage. It was the best thing the SCTLS could have done!
Since this is a university-based activity, there are no slow sessions scheduled during the summer months. You can see the website for the Society of Celtic Cultures at http://www2.uiuc.edu/ro/CelticCultures/.
