Right now we have a couple fiddlers, a couple flute players, a guy that plays banjo and concertina, a couple guitars, and an octive mandolin. We meet every Thursday from about 7:00PM to 9:30 or 10:00. We play a whole host of tunes and we also have a good bit of singing and carrying on. We welcome newcomers if you play traditional stuff or want to learn. There are seven of us, but a few can only come every few weeks, which actually turns out to be a good thing, because the group dynamics is different every week. The Irish Times Pub is on Whitaker between Congress and Broughton Street. Hope to see you there!
I tried contacting the person who submitted the 2 sessions listed for Savannah and got no response. Can anyone tell me if the the one at Irish Times is still happening on thursdays? I saw that the one at The Folk Traditions Store is not til later in the month. I'm going to be there for a few days and would love to play some tunes! Thanks for any help.
The session at Murphy's Law Pub is a blast. Sunday nights 7:30PM - 9:30PM. Anyone that can lead an Irish tune on their turn is welcome. Grab hold of the music and try and keep up. A fine time will be had by most!!!
The Savannah, GA ( Savannah, Georgia ) Session has moved to Murphy's Law Pub on Sunday nights 7:30-9:30. Last week we had fourteen musicians. Well most of them were musicians (they had instruments). We welcome anyone that can play a tune or two. We do a traditional session where it comes around in a circle. Be prepared to lead us in a tune or song on your turn. We have a great mix of tune sets and songs that magically come together. A fine time is had by most! Hope to see you there. Please No harsh instruments, don't make us send you to the tuning corner, and limit the percussion so that the melodies can be heard by all. If you can play a traditional tune or are trying to learn, you certainly are invited to come when you can. Short drive from Hilton Head, Beaufort, Statesboro, Bluffton, Brunswick, St. Simon's Island, and Jekyll Island
This session has been moved to Kevin Barry's Pub, located on River Street in Savannah. It will run from 6:30-8:45pm, followed by top notch singers/songwriters perfoming from 9 to whenever.
