Wednesday sessions are from 8pm onwards & the Sunday sessions are in the evening(5-8pm).
A new session in Brooklyn! Brooklyn has been starved of Irish sessions but no longer! Ceol is a new Irish bar with a great atmosphere, superb food and friendly people. Among the many New York players that frequent the sessions are Tony DeMarco(Fiddle), Fionn Ó Lochlainn(Guitar), Isaac Alderson(Pipes, Flute) etc.
I had a great time at this small acoustic session when I was visiting a friend in Brooklyn last week. I got there on the late side and it was winding down. Tony, Fionn, and a Bodhran player were kind enough to stay for about another hour after I arrived. They were a joy to play with and really worked to include me and my limited repertoire.
Just wanted to let people know the new times for the trad session ~ every Wednesday night 8.30 ~ 11.30pm & Sunday evening from 5 ~ 8pm.
Ceol(meaning 'music' in Irish) is a great bar with cozy atmosphere and tasty food. The Sunday evening sessions are in the back room(which has great ambience). It's a great family session.
The Weds night session is up the front(where the craic is;)
Some of the Irish musicians that frequent the session include; Tony De Marco, Pat Mangan, Ivan Goff, Isaac Alderson, Don Mead, Pio Ryan, Sean Clohessy, Anna Carlton, Jason Cade, Tes Slominski, Donal Clancy, Laura Feddersen & Doug Lammer....the list go's on etc...
The session is open to advanced or intermediate musicians who know Celtic tunes. In other words, it is not a beginner’s session, although beginners are most welcome to listen & join in on tunes they know.
Ceol is situated on Smith Street @ Warren street in Carroll Gardens(nearest subway is Bergen Street on the F or G). It's very quick & easy to get to from the Manhattan.
