The session takes place on Sunday, August 7, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This is sort of a "pilot" session - we are hoping to get something going on a regular basis, but we need to see how this one goes.
There are two sides to Paddy Murphy's - for the session, use the west entrance.
Instead of contacting Paddy Murphy's about the session (they won't know much, about it - they are just letting us have it there), please contact me, Susanna Haslett. If using e-mail, please put "Irish Session" in Subject, so I'll know to open it. The address is susannhaslett@hotmail.com. Or telephone me at (239)649-6325.
We are trying to get more Irish music going here in Naples and hope to end up with a regular weekly session. Please keep checking back if you are around in Southwest Florida or if you'll be visiting. I'll be posting any sessions we have in the Naples area.
Revised information the session bout Paddy Murphy's Pub
There have been some revisions to the information previously posted in the Comments, regarding the August 7th Sunday session at Paddy Murphy's.
As it now stands, it could take place on either the west or the east side of the pub (it's divided into two parts), so try both doors.
The session will also start earlier than the previously stated time - it will now start at 1:00 PM, but will still go until 6:00.
There will be another session the following week, on Sunday, August 14. That will start at 2:00 PM and go until 6:00. It may be on either side of the pub.
We are hoping to turn this into a weekly session, so please check back, if you will be in Southwest Florida any time soon.

Revised information about the session at Paddy Murphy's
This session will be ongoing and the hours will be 1:30 PM- 5:00 PM.
The pilot sessions went well and many musicians showed up - there are quite a few musicians in the Naples area who are into getting together and playing tunes.
Since it's now established, I am going to attempt to make a new listing for this session (if it will take), so if you see another listing for Paddy Murphy's on Sunday, it's the same one as this.
There is a neighborhood Art Fair on the weekend October 15, 2005 and Paddy Murphy's expects to be too packed out and noisy to host the session that day. The rest of the Sundays are still on, but it seems we might have to occasionally cancel for something like this. I post a comment here in these cases so you might want to check here if you are planning on coming down.
We won't have the session on Christmas Day and New Years Day - they fall on Sundays this time around. There will be sessions up until then and then they will resume, as normal, on January 8.
There is a neighborhood Art Fair on March 26, 2006 , so Paddy Murphy's expects to be too packed out and noisy to host the session that day. Regular Sunday sessions will resume as normal on April 2nd and going forward. We have been asked to occasionally cancel for situations like this. I will post a comment here in these cases so please check here if you are planning on coming down. Or contact me (Susanna).
There is a neighborhood Art Fair on May 14, 2006 , so Paddy Murphy's expects to be too packed out and noisy to host the session that day. Regular Sunday sessions will resume as normal on May 21st and going forward. We have been asked to occasionally cancel for situations like this. I will post a comment here in these cases so please check here if you are planning on coming down. Or contact me (Susanna).
Paddy Murphy's session is always a good time! I personally hit this one every Sunday afternoon if possible, and you'll catch me at the Dwyer's (Fort Myers, FL) Tuesday night session as well.
There is a neighborhood Art Fair on October 15, 2006 , so Paddy Murphy's expects to be too packed out and noisy to host the session that day. Regular Sunday sessions will resume as normal after this date and going forward (until the next Art Fair on Fifth Avenue). We have been asked to occasionally cancel for situations like this. I will post a comment here in these cases so please check here if you are planning on coming down. Or contact me (Susanna).
Revised information about the session at Paddy Murphy's
Until further notice, the Sunday afternoon session will be only once a month, instead of once a week. Also, the starting time will be changed to 3:00. So the new schedule is The second Sunday of each month, between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. We might go a little later, on occasion, if it's going strong. So, for the next few months, we have December 10, January 14, February 11 and March 11.
Sorry about that! It's the pub owner's decision not mine.
If you are coming to the Naples area and there is no Paddy Murphy session on while you are visiting, give me a call at 239-649-6325 or shoot me an e-mail and I can try to organize a house session while you are visiting.
If you're in Naples or Fort Myers Florida on a second Sunday and you play tunes or like tunes, you have no excuse as to why you are not at this session. It's till going strong and we're having a great time, where are you at?
Last Sunday we had seven at the height of the festivities:
Susanna - Hostess - Concertina
Ian - Fiddle and Mandoin
Eveleen - Whistle
Randi - Fiddle
Jason - Fiddle and Guitar
Andy - Harp Guitar
Sibylle - Recorder
This past Sunday we had seven musicians at the height of things, and that's in Florida in Summer time when half the State lives up North instead. Not too shabby.
Stephen played Haste to the Wedding so fast that no one else could play with him. He followed it with Saddle The Pony and I'm proud to say I was able to track him down and match his pace on the 2nd tune, though my hair was blown back and I was panting as if I'd just sprinted a few hundred yards.
The session at Paddy Murphy's may or may not continue - they have not made up their minds - but it is NOT on this Sunday, November 11.
The story is that on the smoking side (the usual side) of the pub, the football watchers were not happy about hearing our beautiful music while they were watching the games and complained to the owners. So we can't have the Sunday session over on that side ever again. But Paddy's is opening the other side of the pub - the non-smoking side - now that the Season is here and there is a possibility we can have the session there. But there are some issues over there too, so the subject is still under discussion by the owners.
I will post a comment here when I know for sure one way or the other.
Also, I will have a house session instead on November 11, 3:00 - 6:00. If you want to come to that, e-mail susannahaslett@hotmail.com and I'll send directions.
I have many fond memories of this session, fantastic stuff went on here. Many a tune played and song sung. Many a pint drank. Many a Scooby Snack had in the parking lot out back. Say what now? Never mind that. Brilliant stuff went down here, it was mighty and grand.
So...we take out mightiness and grandness elsewhere. Carry on!

Correction to October 15 cancelation should be October 22
The session is on for October 15 and NOT on October 22. (Paddy Murphy's gave us the wrong Art Fair date.)
