Boat Inn Session

I've been to Boat couple of times in the last six weeks or so - while working in Telford
Very established session, with some founder members still playing regularily. Friendly pub with nice ales, and high standard of playing - mainly tunes reels / jigs / hornpipes with just a couple of songs. Can get very busy and not easiest pub layout for session, but had a good time on both visits - the pub does very reasonable B&B so you don't even have to travel afterwards !
Will certainly revisit when I'm in the area

Still Going

This session is still going strong in October 2006. Another year and it will have been going 20 years. The number of musicians varies from 5 to 15. Mainly traditional irish but players of other traditions are welcome. Starts from 8pm

Too many players?

I've been a few times when in the area and have usually found it disappointing. I find the atmosphere inhibiting.
Maybe the problem is there is no one strong and musical player to guide it and too many players.
