I started this session about three years ago, just after they opened. It is primarily a restaurant, with a bar attached, & so offers a quiet, relaxed atmosphere ideal for singing, so we provide a nice blend of songs & tunes. It is almost background music to enhance & stimulate conversation, however it is a session, & visiting singers & musicians are sure of a warm welcome, & will be encouraged to join in, before or after visiting the Giants Causeway, which is only a mile away.
Seven years on & this session is still going strong. It is one of the few singing sessions around where all singers are welcome - no elitist 'Trad only' atmos. here, so beginners & ballad singers are all welcome!
As well as loads of songs, we usually have plenty tunes too from Fiddle, Flute, Harp, Concertina, Northumbrian Pipes & Bodhran plus the usual Guitars & Bouzouki.
I had the good fortune to play with the people at this session in March 2007. Dick and his mates were all very welcoming and I enjoyed their music very much. It was great to get a tune in with them. A fellow at the bar sang one of the most depressing, and real, songs about war as I've ever heard, and he sang it well. Up the north!
