Y Mochyn Du

This is a fairly new session (about a year) which, as I understand it, is mainly for Welsh traditional music.

Y mochyn ddu - not so welcome now

After 4-5 successful years we've had to move round the corner to the Cayo Arms in Cathedral Road. The landlord said we were too successful!

New venue - sometimes

From July 2010 we are going to play the Nos Da (on the opposite bank of the river from the stadium) on the first Monday each month. (Still at the Cayo for the other Mondays). At the Cayo we are usually in an upstairs room which is good for learning and trying things out but not as much fun as in a bar where people can listen.

Also for 2 weeks only we will be playing in the Nos Da because of other Cayo events: Tuesday 19th July 2010 and Monday July 26th.

What happens?

It's nearly all Welsh tunes. We have our sets but we are open to all suggestions to change them or learn new tunes. We're friendly, everyone's welcome, beginners included, though one might struggle and would need to be patient - but you would get plenty of help and tips. It's bilingual, about 50/50 Cymraeg and English, but no one would be left in the dark for language reasons.
