O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Centre & Pub, New Orleans, LA
I've been living out-of-state for many years, and I emailed to confirm when the sessions are. No response yet...so I'll call. I'm posting this in case someone's searching, but realize it's subject to confirmation. I'll update if the information changes from what I've posted for now.
O’Flaherty’s Irish Channel Centre & Pub
From Ceolas site--O'Flahertie's
I heard it's on Friday evenings, so anyone in the area might
want to check it out and report on it. I'm not going to be
there for a while, so I can't.

O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Centre and Pub, New Orleans--Bad news and good news
Bad news: I received this reply about the sessions today:
Stace,
O Flaherty's cancelled due to lack of support. There is a session in Slidell every Tuesday night but it is mainly country and bluegrass. They try to play some Irish but they don't know many.

Good news: We're working to get something going somewhere.
RE: O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Centre and Pub, New Orleans, LA
This just in from Justin Murphy, a fine professional player of Irish flute:
"There haven't been any real sessions at O'Flaherty's for a while now. But, there is a ceili every Saturday night which gives a little opportunity for some playing. We regularly have people sit and play along around the stage, but a sort of "hierarchy" of players has developed over the last year or so and so sometimes its difficult to get it. Its also music for dancing, so it tends to go at a pretty steady clip, so its best to just observe at first and meet people. I'm always playing at O'Flaherty's on Friday nights.
I do give lessons on flute and tin whistle, if you're interested. I work at O'Flaherty's six nights a week, but other than that my schedule is pretty flexible."
update on o flathertys: as most of ye in new orleans probably know, flahertys never opened after hurricane katrina. i was sad to hear it because it was really interested in irish music unlike some
so called irish bars.
