Santa Fe monthly session

This session is only once a month on the first wednesday of the month. All levels are ok - although it is *not* a slow session. People aren't there to teach tunes, although it is a good group and most will happily give pointers or even go off to the side and play a tune slowly so that you can record it. Occasionally, there have been one or two people come with sheet music, and while no one was nasty about it, it was clear that the regulars would prefer that people not use the dots. The mix of tunes is eclectic, some irish, scottish, etc. but there is a strong leaning toward southern (old-timey). The mix of instruments varies greatly from session to session, usually lots of fiddles, some guitars, flutes and whistles, mandolins, banjos, a bodhran player or two, and occasionally a ullian piper.

Have box, will travel

Is this session still going? I have a friend who's from Ireland but living here in SF and plays box very well. He'll be visiting Sante Fe soon and I'd like to pass this info to him. Any info is mucho appreciado.

Oops! Santa Fe Session

I just checked this session and discovered Jack's query - no, the Murphy's Law session isn't going any longer. There is a session fairly regularly on Weds at the Wild Oats Community room that is, I think, much the same group. There is also a regular Sunday night session in Los Alamos at the Unitarian Church at 7:30 where we play Scottish/Irish/old-time contra/rags/Christmas carols in season, and welcome anyone that comes in the door. We've even had more than one bodhran at a time :>) If someone's coming to Santa Fe they can contact me thru the e-mail here and I can find out if the Wild Oats session is on that week. Sorry if this is too late for Jack's friend -
