Sundays (but only occasional Sundays)
Scottish Traditional, all abilities welcome.
Open Air
In the grounds of Lauriston Castle, Cramond Road South, Davidson's Mains, Edinburgh.
Enter grounds at main gate (car park inside on left - see map there of the grounds), walk a further 200m down drive to the castle. The session might be in one of a number of places depending on various factors - beside the croquet lawn, the Italianate rose garden, or Japanese Garden, but should be quite easily found without too much walking about.
If the car park is full, use nearby side streets.
Participants will possibly need to bring their own seat.
Please remember that if we play in the Japanese Garden (properly the "Edinburgh Kyoto Friendship Garden") that the garden is intended to be a place of peace and reflection.
If you want to know more about the castle and grounds see www.edinburgh.gov.uk/internet/leisure/museums_and_galleries/CEC_lauriston_castle_and_grounds
DATES and TIMES; This session will hopefully run two or three times during the summer months, perhaps at about monthly intervals. The only way you will be informed of one happening is to be on the email list. A message will then be sent out giving maybe two days' notice, once the weather forecast looks favourable ! To get on that list, send your name and email address to bob@bobmurray.co.uk
Notices might be posted here, but that is not guaranteed.
If a message has been sent out, but the forecast then changes and rain is definite, the session will be off.
There's a story that the ghost at Lauriston Castle manifests itself by the sound of its walking footsteps. Let's see if we can make it some ghostly foot-tapping !
Having just listed this session, I see that the wee Google map that comes up isn't quite helpful. The indicator flag has appeared at the Tesco car park. Wrong. If you look at the map, the entrance to the castle grounds is about 400m north-west up the same road. The little road that looks like an elongated "9" is the castle driveway.
After a summer with as many fine sunny Sunday afternoons as could be counted on the fingers of one foot, it is now time to say "Hey, it's October, nothing's going to happen now till next year".
Maybe about May or June of 2009 it will be time to make another announcement, but for the meantime let's enjoy the winter's indoor sessions !
