This pub is next door to the Sin E which also has a session at the same time. Spoilt for choice we are in Cork and it's a tough call some nights which session to choose. Recently (May 2008) I've seen really top notch musicians sit in on this session and it's not for the faint hearted on those nights but the musicians are always welcoming. It is very occasionally an E flat session.
The First Friday session (you've guessed it, takes place on the first Friday of every month) is a gathering of some of the famous players from Cork such as Matt Cranitch (fiddle), Con Fada (box), Colm Murphy (bodhran), Pat Herring (guitar), Dave Hennessy (box), Brid Cranitch (fiddle), Mick Daly (guitar) and many more (not all of them every time). This session tends to have a Sliabh Luachra slant but it is an open session. Worth a look/listen.
