Mostly Irish and a little Scottish. This session is friendly and we're all about learning. There is a mix of players and abilities. Not strictly for beginners, we wouldn't say no to newcomers.
Our repetoire is mostly Irish with Scottish and other tunes thrown in.
The sessions continue to go strong every Friday night. on the third Friday of each month, we play at The Snug and then head over to the Kitchen Junket, a movable musical feast that travels to different houses every month. The Junket is more singing than tunes, but is a blast and usually runs into the very wee hours of the morning. If you come out with us on the third Friday of the month be prepared to stay up all night!
These guys have a blog where they put the dates of their sessions, the tunes they've decided to work on, etc. This also includes the dates of the Kitchen Junket, which is a monthly "oral & musical session" for lack of better words: spoken word, Irish trad, singing, prose readings etc are all fair game.
New Session on Bowen Island, near Vancouver Canada
This session runs 7-10pm. Bowen Island is a short ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay which itself is 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
Musicians wishing to visit from Vancouver can get the 10pm ferry back to the mainland or wait for the midnight water taxi.
