This is a new session, going about 3 months, with an enthusiastic landlord !It is a strictly tune session - no songs ! Apart from that it is very relaxed. We play any trad British tunes, lots of English as well as Irish,Scots etc.Musicians start appearing soon after 9pm,we're usually playing by 9.30pm and we go on until about 11.30ish.At the moment Aiden, the landlord provides free drinks for the musicians, but I cant guarantee that to continue if lots of musicians turn up !If you are new to sessions I can provide the chords and tunes on paper for you.Come along ! Grant Perry.
Not trying to be pedantic, but am trying to be helpful. When I typed in South Norwood High Street into Streetmap.co.uk, the reply was "The query returned no matches, please try again." However it gave the correct street when I typed in High Street (South Norwood). Can you ammend this to avoid further confusion? (especially to the likes of me who is easily confused).
Very easy to get to,if you're on the train - it,s on the corner of the High Street and Station Road, ( I think it's within sight of the station ).Just by the big old Clocktower.
Grant.
Our fiddler is ill,so we will be down to Recorder/Guitar,and Bodhran ,if James turns up - so it'll probably be quite sedate, unless hordes of other musicians turn up.
No sessions on the 5th and 12th of August - as I'm off to Broadstairs Folk Festival - yippee.
Due to lack of interest from either punters or other musicians, the landlord has decided to cancel the session. It's a shame,as it was a good venue, and the landlord is a nice guy. When we started about 18 months ago,it was usually three or four musicians playing to an audience of about 8 !
Since then the number of musicians has dwindled to 2,and we never managed to attract any extra audience.
Still,it frees me up to visit other sessions on Fridays - any good ones in London ?

Hi Grant
Well done for remembering the address for this place. Hope it pulls some more people in - we enjoy it.
As mentioned we'll be back next Friday - off to see Lunasa tonght.
Ruth aquired a grandaughter on Saturday evening by the way - everyone is fine.
I have that Bothy Band CD for you - would Brian like one or might he prefer Mary Bergin (whistle)?
Cheers
James
