This album Rocks!

It`s a classic-acclaimed by such greats as Aly Bain,The late Willie Hunter and Charlie O`Neill.McGuire at his peak with Piano, double Bass and Banjo/mandolin back-up in a snappy, and surprisingly straight Ceili band sound-I only permit myself to enjoy listening to this on my birthday and Christmas morning!

Oul' Sean

Still doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I grew up knowing him from the Clonard Music Club, run by Francie McPeake. He's still as sharp as ever but some of the stuff he recorded in the 50's and 60's ranks among the best fiddle-playing I ever heard. he's like the Pavarotti of the fiddle - rarely makes a mistake and has a tone to die for, despite his advancing years. Somewhere at home I've got a tape I made from a radio programme broadcast at least a dozen years ago on RTE. It's got music recorded in Seán's da's kitchen in the 50s and it really is top notch playing, althought the sound quality is obviously a bit rough. Is anyone familiar with it and, if so, know if it's from a commercial recording or just a field recording?

Sean`s Da`s kitchen recording

I could tell if I heard a snatch or two as I have ALL his commercial recordings since he started.
