This is an album mostly of songs, but i thought it deserved being posted here because of the "Ferny Hill" track (very nice Matt Molloy 4-part reel, i'll post the ABC later). Also, there is a great version of "Rocky Road To Dublin", with the Rolling Stones! There's also "Changing Your Demeanor" and "Dunmore Lassies", which could be part of session repertory. In fact, several of the tracks have a kind of session ambiance.
If memory serves me right, this album was part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the band. They invited all sorts of people with more or less Celtic connections to participate. Some of the results are incredibly good, especially (imho) the tracks with Mick Jagger, Mark Knopfler and Sinéad O'Connor. Other tracks are somewhat annoying (especially "Love Is Teasin" and "Tennesee Waltz"), but all in all this is an excellent album.
The first time i heard this, i was driving through Philadelphia (USA) on my way to a job, and i heard the Mark Knopfler track (Lilly of the West). I was completely blown away by it, to the point that i took a wrong turn and got completely lost for a while. I looked for this album everywhere, just had to have it.
Matt Molloy is his usual incredible self, and Paddy Moloney does miracles with the whistle.
