An oddity, this. Released on Peter Gabriel's Realworld label (CDRW27), the album is a collection of unaccompanied "laments" by a host of well-known trad or folk musicians. Mostly a good listen, although the "reconstructed" keening of "One Breath" is a bit of a shock to the system and Christy's cut-and-paste, quasi-dub version of Danny Boy will hardly win many votes. The artists are, in order:
.Davy Spillane
.Declan Masterson
.Maighréad Ní Dhomhnaill
.Paddy Glackin
.Micheál Ó Súilleabháin
.Alanna O'Kelly
.Tony MacMahon
.Christy Moore
.Seán Óg Potts
.Kevin Conneff
.John Sheahan
.Seán Potts (Snr.)
.Neil Martin
14. Derek Bell
