Ken Dorr: pipes
Christy Cooney: vocals, banjo, bodhran
Maxine Briggs: rhythm sticks
Louis McManus: guitars, mandolin, fiddle, banjo
James Cooney: mandola
Dougie McDonald: drums
Simon Melia: squeeze box
Kenny White: harmonica
Stephen Cooney: bass, guitar and didjeridoo
Larrikin Records (Aust) 1983 LRF 137
Louis McManus is Tony McManus's cousin, and Stephen Cooney is Steve Cooney. Seminal recording from the melbourne mob in the 80's. Wonderous mix of pipes and electric guitar on some songs and bass, fiddle, banjo and didjeridoo on the tunes.
LOL, I'm on that record! I gave Simon (RIP) a lift to the studio and ended up playing fiddles on "Turn Right at the Bull" (a reference to a butcher's shop at the top of the street that had a huge mura of a black bull on it). Christy forgot to include me in the list of musicians and apologized every time he saw me for at least year. I pretended not to mind.
Louis' banjo solo on Sullivan's John still blows me away every time I listen to it. If you want to know more about Louis, who is now very sadly disabled, I have a web page about him at:
