Just One Wish

From the sleeve notes: "The charismatic fiddler from acclaimed Irish supergroup Solas delivers a beguiling mix of atmospheric compositions grounded in Celtic and other roots in music from around the world in her solo debut."

All the tunes on here, except 2 by my count, are Win's original compositions, & you can feel Seamus Egan's hallmark production sensibilities throughout. If you like Edge of Silence or Solas' other new stuff, you will also love this CD, drum loops & other studio tricks... Personally I love her spunk & spirit, I also really love her waltzes, & track 8 with the reel Sean at the Wheel written by Bill Black, is worth the price of the CD, IMO.

Guest musicians include Seamus Egan (also co-producer), Dave West, Donal Clancy, Mick McAuley, Dave Cullen, etc.

I finally picked this one up, encouraged by having recently seen Solas live for the first time in about seven years. I'll try to avoid being verbose here, and just say that it has been a long time since I've put a CD in the player to accompany some mundane, banal activity around the house, and found myself sitting instead, doing nothing but listening intently to every flicker of the music. I could not move at all through the entire duration of this amazingly original piece of work. Purists beware: Your arguments about the sanctity of The Old Tradition are useless against this CD; this CD represents the living tradition of Irish music. This CD is a point along what I hope is an infinite evolutionary line, stretching backward and forwards, in all directions.

Yes, I'm serious. Sincerity has been so de-valued in our modern age.
