" Clonakilty, West Cork, is steeped in traditions, from its colourful shop fronts to its Blackpudding recipes. The old streets of the town reveal many secrets of its past. One such place is Recorder's Alley, situated beside O'Donovan's hotel, off Pearse Street. Recorder's Alley was referred to in the 1790's when the frugal housewives of this alley were seen preparing fish for the fish market. Today Recorder's Alley is home to An Teach Beag, a quaint little pub, run by the O'Donovan family as a traditional music house. It is the focal point for traditional music in West Cork, having music seven nights a week during the summer season and in winter, around the open crackling fire at weekends.
