Three days ago, a friend of mine recommended anything by this group, and so yesterday I picked up this CD at a local festival. I haven't stopped listening to it. It's a lovely little recording from a group who have been around since the early-mid 20th century (lineup obviously has changed over time). The liner notes are quite extensive, providing a nice historical summary of how the Kilfenora Ceili Band was created and evolved. Rather interesting stuff. All around a great CD!
Wonderful recording. I was at one of the recording sessions and the band set a very very high standard for themselves. If any player thought that things did not sound 100% perfect as they were playing they stopped playing and everyone stopped and did it again, and again until everyone was happy.
Turn up the volume and listen to how tight they are while not being mechanical as they were in a previous recording.
