Irlande

This CD was recorded Live in Maison de la Radio (French Public Radio House) in Paris, France as part of their world music collection, which explains the very simple title "Irlande" (Ireland In French).
It is a reference recording in which the three musicians totally "set the place into fire" (as we say in French... ah, ah), I think it is still available in Radio France website (in French) :

Hrow!

One of my favs...had a poor copy on tape, but found the CD yesterday for $15 (AUS)!!!!!!
Starts with the following from Frankie:
"We'd like to encourage people to, sort of, participate in the music as much as possible in the sense that it's the actual sounds that you make when you're listening to Irish traditional music that is very important. In different parts of the country you'll have people will make sounds like 'Hrow!', that type of thing. Then in other parts of the country you'll have people who just go 'Hoou!'. That's the kind of best they can manage. And then in different parts of the country "Hup ye boy ye!, and that kind of thing, you see. So we'd like to encourage people to do that while we're playing, in particular, and then if we change keys for example, that's definetly an area where you'd let a couple of squeals out of you...you'd be convinced that you had a great time...and that's enough about that then..."

Irelande

Hi, everybody!

I'm an Arty McGlynn fan, so I try to buy all the CD's on which he plays a significant role.

For a year or more, I've found references to a live album he did with Frankie Gavin called Irelande on the Ocora label. I've searched and searched and have not been able to find a copy, though. So the other day I was looking at a discography and read that the album has been rereleased. I don't know what label. I can't find it in the USA.

Does anybody know where I can order it from, either in the USA or UK? I'm working through an Artie McGlynn jones here, and I appreciate any help you can lend.

Re: Irelande

I ordered my copy from Mulligan Music in Galway.

They were incredibly helpful when I visited the store in 2003. I typically wait until I have 4 or 5 hard-to-find CDs on my wish list, then place an order with Muligan via email. The CDs arrive here in California within a week.
