this is a great Cd, just got it for around £2 from ebay! really great amount of variation in types of tunes here, stuff from all over the place and of course some great playing.

Kevin Burke - In Good Company

Track 19 of this album is a nice tune called Flowers of the Forest. However it is not the one on this site or Fiddler's Companion. Can anyone identify the version on KB's CD ?

Thanks

Re: Kevin Burke - In Good Company

It's a Finnish tune, Metsakukkia (which translates roughly as the forestflowers)

Has this Kevin Burke reel got an alternative title?

Track 7 on KB's 'Very Best of' has a great set comprising Maudabawnun Chapel / Wild Irishman / "The Mother"

http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/405

I can't find any dots or abc or info on "The Mother" - can anyone shed some light?

Thanks

Re: Has this Kevin Burke reel got an alternative title?

The set originally apeared on his album "Portland" and listed as "The Moher." But it's usually called "The Abbey Reel": http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/477

We used to come up rumps until now that we found that missing 't'.

Re: Has this Kevin Burke reel got an alternative title?

It might go nicely together with "The Cruel Father".
