This CD, representative of the enormous contribution of Irish music to Québecois traditional music, was bought at Grosse Ile this summer. Grosse Ile, a small island in the St. Lawrence River, was a quarantine station for British and European immigrants to Canada in the mid- nineteenth century. I apologise for the confusing listings..Had it all neatly lined up and kept losing it as the page had expired..
The music is very Québecois in feel and sound - fiddle and one-row melodeon (Cajun style accordion) with light guitar accompaniment and some sean nos singing.
