This CD is the third in the "Ace and Deuce of Pipering"series of recordings produced by Na Píobairí Uilleann in Dublin. All tracks are played unaccompanied on uilleann pipes pitched in the key of B.
It has been kindly pointed out to me that the title of track 10 might contain a typo, and indeed this is the case. On Seoda Ceoil 1 track 3 (which Robbie Hannan cites as his source for the air) it is spelled "The Bold Trainer O," and this spelling is repeated on "The Pipering of Willie Clancy Vol. 1," track 5. It is, however, spelled "Trainor" in two locations on the jacket of "The Tempest."
I don't think that 'Trainor' is a misprint at all since it's a reasonably common surname in Ireland (though more usually seen as 'Traynor') while 'Trainer' certainly isn't. The tune's title comes from a ballad of lost love which certainly has nothing to do with a 'trainer' in the coaching sense. My guess is that it's just one of those tunes that's developed different spellings.
And on reflection I'm inclined to agree that the spelling "Trainor" may not be a typo after all. The air is titled "The Bold Trainor O" in O'Neill's Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody, #62. It is also mentioned in Alan Ward's booklet "Music from Sliabh Luachra" with this spelling, and furthermore is played by Julia Clifford on the recording "The Humours of Lisheen" http://www.thesession.org/recordings/display/1433
and listed there with the same spelling.
