String Sisters Live

The String Sisters are: Annbjørg Lien (Norway), Catriona MacDonald (Shetland), Liz Knowles (USA), Liz Carroll (USA), Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (Ireland), Emma Härdelin (Sweden)
Band: Tore Bruvoll, guitar, Conrad Ivitsky: doublebas, James Mackintosh: drums and percussion, David Milligan: piano

This is a live recording from one of the concerts held in Norway in Jan, 2007. A combination of all their traditions and styles. Some original compositions of Liz Carroll & Liz Knowles, there may be others, but I purchased the recording from iTunes and thus no liner notes.

The group is similar to Celtic Fiddle Festival, although they play as an ensemble through out, solo in small bits of each set only. A little bit more emphasis on harmony as well. Their playing is lovely and energetic. It’s a fun recording.

Track 11

Wanted to mention, on Track 11, the version of Toss the Fiddles is Liz Knowle's slow reel (rather than the linked one):

The song The Hussar is lovely in combination with the slow reel, a shame I don't know who is singing as she has a lovely, strong voice.
