Musicians

A recording from 1978. Other musicians: Peadar Mercier, Máirtín Byrnes and The Reel Union. The sleeve notes leave me unaware of who the members of The Reel Union are.

About the tunes

Lord Gordon' s is an older two part version than the one that was made popular by Michael Coleman.

Track 9 is Christmas Eve

The Jigs on track 11 are preceded by Sixpenny Money (not announced).

Reel Union

If memory serves, "Reel Union" were, as well as Dolores Keane :

Kieran Crehan [ fiddle ]
Eamonn Curran [ uillean pipes & whistles ]
John Faulkner [ bouzouki, guitar & vocals - he also plays fiddle, but I can't remember if he does on this recording ]

A classic album, one of the best ever for a good mix of songs and tunes. The version of "The Laurel Tree/Bush" is a bit "crooked" too. Could never figure that one out, somehow.
