As with all Shanachie records that I've got there are excellent sleeve notes & notation for 7 of the tunes - 4 slides & 3 polkas.
"Johnny Cronin comes from the village of Gneevguilla in Co. Kerry."
"Joe Burke was born in Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny."
Piano accompaniment is by Jerry Wallace, who was born in Belfast. Interestingly, "He won the All-Ireland Championship on the Piccollo at the Fleadh Cheoil at Boyle in 1960..."

In around 1979 I, with a group of friends, entered a group competition, while I was living near Portlaoise.
We were called the 'Coolrain Quartet' & in those days I still played the Banjo.
Anyway, we got through the first round but I decided to head off on my peregrinations and the guys had to find a substitute for the finals in Dublin & Joe Banjo Burke was my stand in. Well, of course they won, & the first prize was a trip to New York, not much novelty value in that for a far travelled man like Joe of course, but it's just as well I dropped out, cause I don't fly anyway!
I always enjoyed Joe's steady Banjo playing.
He was also a very fine singer & a real character too.
