A fabulous and generous person, great stories, great tunes, and I feel lucky to have shared some time and stories and tunes with this sweet this man and his lovely wife...

Sadly this recording it currently out of circulation, but I am hoping Paul Cranford will make it available again soon.

"Johnny Wilmot: Another Side of Cape Breton"

Breton Books & Music,
Wreck Cove, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

Notes: "Another Side of Cape Breton" is the best studio recordings of fiddler Johnny Wilmot and friends. These extraordinary examples of Cape Breton fiddle tradition are rooted in the house parties and dances of Cape Breton's Northside. Wilmot's music is driving, emotional, and absolutely unbeatable. These cuts are a rare and terrific find.

Digitally remastered for CD from the original mastesr plus three extremely rare 78s. Every effort has been made to get the best possible reproduction. Johnny Wilmot is back!

~ Our thanks to Frank and Margaret Swain of Holborne Records, and to Ernest Lyons at Holborne for preparating the production master. Digital editing by Paul M. MacDonald and Chuck O'Hara. "Another Side of Cape Breton" was compiled by Paul Cranford, Paul MacDonald, and Ronald Caplan. Photo courtesy of Doub MacPhee.
