Although the instrumental tracks are fairly evenly divided between cittern and guitar, this recording, for my money , features the best playing of traditional Irish music played on guitar bar none. A great selection of tunes and also songs. Not a track on it I don't like, and there are very few recordings about which I'd say that.
Pat Kilbride is currently a member of the "Battlefield Band".
Dinny O'Briens and Kitty's Wedding (Track 1) is an awesome showcase of cittern and guitar fingerstyle. One of the best of all picking ITM pieces recorded in my opinion. I am even at a point to ask if he was dubbing himself over a recording of himself. Boy in the Gap is also a very nice fingerpicking performance. Unfortunately, we don't have the Swedish March translated to ABC and sheet music, as it is a deceptively simply little tune that you can't get out of your head for awhile.
I wonder why Pat didn't have wider popularity. This recording does indeed experiment with tabla percussion and other unique instruments, but he sells the experimentation as excellent chamber style accoustic music. Perhaps it was too experimental for ITM when it was released. I would love to know where Pat is these days and what new material he's doing. If you love fingerpicking, this CD has some excellent examples.

The "At The Front" album he did with them was one of their best, I always thought. The "Swedish March" is a masterpiece, indeed.
