Tradition Records (a Rykodisc label) TCD 1052. Originally recorded in 1959, re-issued 1997. I only got my hands on this a few days ago, but it's a real cracker. Hammond's voice is a bit of an acquired taste but since I first came across his singing on Arty McGlynn's "McGlynn's Fancy" and afterwards saw him on an RTE programme where he, Arty McGlynn, Donal Lunny and Liam O'Floinn played an informal session, I've had a lot of time for his singing. A young man when this was recorded, Hammond's voice (like most great trad/folk voices) has acquired character over the years.

I found David Hammond's recording years ago as a cassette tape issued in Canada in the 90's. My favorite recordings of singers are those like Hammond's that have the character of authentic non-studio recordings, like the early field recordings done years ago. - Alice Flynnp
