Oh my God! I listened to some of the tracks. I don't usually slag musicians' work. But honestly! What an ill-conceived idea ... pure and utter rubbish, I'm afraid. Frankie Gavin, you've a lot to answer for!

Hmmm... to be honest, An Fliut, I didn't find it that bad. Pleasant enough, but it's not at all Irish music. Nor is it any longer The Beatles. So if anything it's a bit pointless...but harmless, so I'll live and let live. Nicely produced and well played, but neither one thing or the other.

Heber "Any Time at ALL"

Remember when Paul Simon made that cd with Ladysmith Black Mumbaza? All the purists were beating their breasts and saying that it wasn't folk, or rock, or traditional African. Meanwhile, the rest of us were diggin' the hell out of the music. How much great music has been panned or derided as "rubbish" because it did not conform to preconceived notions. Maniac Kid is correct that Hebert's music is well played and produced, but wrong in the belief that it has to be "one thing or the other." I've been listening to this cd in my car for weeks, and it just keeps getting better. Don't listen to it on your crappy computer speakers. Buy the cd and HEAR the tunes on some quality equipment. You;ll change your tune.

Any Time At All - A Session Picker's Tribute To The Beatles

What one likes to hear may not be preferred by another, and that's fine and understood. But when we insult the wellness of creative conception, or dismiss something creative as pointless, then we have transgressed the border between fairness and disrespect. From my own perspective, my ear hears an enjoyable and innovative set of tunes on the "Any Time At All" CD, and I thirst for more of the same.
