This is an album of lovely traditional music from Co. Kerry. Not by any means fiery finger-bending technical stuff, but music that is relaxed and gracious.
Amergin is an Irish traditional music group based in Kenmare, a small seaside town in the southern part of County Kerry, Ireland. The band came together from playing at many music sessions in Crowley's bar, a venue for traditional music in Kenmare.
The Group Amergin takes its name from the legendary Milesian prince, poet and hero who landed on the shores of Kenmare Bay during the early Bronze Age -circa 2000 B.C. The Gypsy Princess is believed locally to have been a tall ship that sailed out of Bantry Bay in County Cork in the 19th Century.
The Band members are: Joe Thoma - Fiddle, Dave O'Sullivan-Baker - Accordion & Banjo, Andy O'Sullivan - Harmonica & Tin Whistle, Nick Urwin - Bouzouki and Anita Heffernan - Vocals & Bodhrán.
I bought this album in the Cill Rialaig arts centre and its one of my favourites..... just listening to it puts me firmly into Kerry. I especially like the first set of polkas, but the whole album has a great sound - straight from the south-west. Highly recommended by me!

One of my favourite albums
