Seamus Tansey has hit the headlines (October 2004) for all the wrong reasons. He had a disagreement with a young female accordeon player (Sharon Langston) in O'Shea's Merchant in Dublin, and subsequently sent her a vitriolic letter, peppered with four-letter words and various abusive comments.
Sharon and her family subsequently contacted an Irish phone-in show ("Liveline") where the letter was read out in full. Tansey was completely unrepentant, and refused to apologise on the air. The dispute arose because Sharon asked Tansey to tune his flute to her accordeon.
During the phone-in show it became apparent that Tansey has some difficulty in interpreting the musical terms "sharp" and "flat".
Tansey seems to regard himself as some kind of traditional music "royalty" who is due automatic deference and respect. On the basis of his performance on the phone-in show (and for writing the letter in the first place) he is a royal DISGRACE.

Wrong place
Why didn't you post this in the appropriate discussion? It's got nothing to do with this recording, and certainly nothing to do with Jim McKillop.
