bristlehound

Hi!! My name is Max and I am currently resident in Central Victoria in south-eastern Australia.

I have been involved in one way or another, with traditional celtic music and its off-shoots since the late 1960's, inspired initially by performers such as the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and, of course, the Dubliners, particularly Luke Kelly.

During this period, there was, through the local folk clubs, a steady rebirth of interest in Australian Traditionional Music. This was also a strong influence in my formative years with much of our early music evolving out of that which accompanied our early colonists.

Until recently, my main instruments have been guitar and mandolin and I have been known to tinker periodically with a variety of others, with varying degrees of success.

I have been involved in a number of bands and groups over the years but now play largely for my own amusement, attending local sessions when available.

My main instrument these days is the whistle, which I decided, at the start of 2004, to get serious about. My only regret is that I didn't get into it years earlier. I have also recently decided to take up the flute and now spend much of my time endeavouring to extract something asthetically pleasing from that. It's coming, but slowly.
