gravelwalks

My name is Chris. I study history at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida.

My background is mostly bluegrass guitar, (frailing) banjo, and mandolin, but in the last 8 or 9 years I've been focusing more on the other side of the Atlantic, playing concertina and accordion, 30-button C/G and G/C, respectively. Can't get my head around the half-step system, maybe in later years I'll give it another whirl.

The switch from frets to buttons has been.. a reorganization of sorts.

Speed has its moments, but I'm a sucker for tunes with character: funny old hornpipes, the jaunty old-timey music hall stuff, barndances, country dances, the spooky mix. jigs which appear to be thinking between keys, bright little polkas and just about anything that loses its character if it is played too fast.

I wish more people would play the 'session standards' in A or Bb!
