bogman
Born in 1969 and lived all my life is Skye, Scotland. Began playing the GHB at 9 years old and spent my early teens playing hundreds of ceilidh's. Moved from ceilidh to folk after hearing Silly Wizard in mid teens and began playing guitar . Started playing the whistle after hearing Davy Spillane and the Bothy Band and played in various bands of different genres. Formed the band that was to make me my living in '91 and still at it.
I play Oveton whistles, Sinclair/Strathmore GHB, Garvie Border pipes by Nigel Richard and Hamish Moore smallpipes. Really need to get stuck into my Uillean pipes again soon.
My local session in in the Cellar Bar in Dunvegan. Very friendly session where we are looked after well and although it is probably 70% Highland/Scottish and 30% Irish tunes we do our best to play what visitors to the session can play
Favourite music at the moment would be, in no particular order, and obviously not including bands I am involved with, - Daimh, Silly Wizard, Shooglenifty, Flook, Liz Carroll, Lunasa, Gordon Duncan, Fred Morrison, Kila, Martyn Bennet and other such things. I like/appreciate almost all Scottish/Irish related music though for some reason my brain has difficulty accepting hornpipes and I rarely play them.
This is my local session...please come along for at tune if you're ever in Skye
