I've been playing Irish and some (minimal) Scottish fiddle for 5+ years. Tunes have been sent on tapes through the mail from Kenny (cheers!). Trips to Ireland (generally avoiding the festivals) have all helped the predominantly self directed learning. My spare time is spent at as many good sessions as possible, especially the ones in kitchens.
I've been an occasional zealot (somebody elses description - cheers ceolachan!). As such I am very much concerned that the juxtaposition of rapidly expanding ITM fora (such as the internet as a tune source) with, for example, regional styles.
