Any Irish connection is tenuous, but I've been playing the music for a wee while now - there's a few decades worth of playing, but I don't think it is greatly important how long you have played. My own age bracket may be considered "middle aged".
Key Maniac Lad is an anagram of my real name, but most people call me Danny...or often very much worse names. That's for those who take that kind of stuff seriously. In fact, I don't take too much of the content of this site too seriously, except when it matters,eg when I might try to offer some encouragement or advice where I can. I enjoy it here when there's good natured banter and leg pulling going on. I don't like it when the po-faced PC brigade or the self-appointed experts and guardians of the tradition start spouting off, although I can be guilty of that too. Nor do I Iike it when the thankfully few ignoramuses come on here and trumpet out ill-formed opinions and half-truths, using ill-formed punctuation, syntax and grammar, with unreadable English - or they belittle or patronise a younger, or older, member.
My other interests include distance running, cycling, static caravanning, hiking, family stuff, DIY (various projects), watching telly - both dumb programmes and brainy ones, eating curries & tagines, slobbing around and generally making a mess and a nuisance of myself.
I have previously gone on here by the following monickers:
Domhniaill Mac Aoidh
Pingu
Rab C. Nesbitt
Lord of the Flies
Lisa Lane
Indie Niall
....and several others.

and this one is even worse, if that's possible. At high resolution saliva can be seen dripping from the mouthparts and the look in the eyes is truly that of a maniac. Has to be my proudest moment:
