jeanpierrewilmotte

My name is Jean-Pierre Wilmotte and I live in Belgium. The South of Belgium, where French is spoken. I have always been interested in folk music as a whole. Actually the first LP's I bought were Irish music and although I have always had a tin whistle in my bag I gradually became aware that there had been a specific folk music in Wallonia and I have been practising it for twenty-odd years. I play the bagpipes (Belgian types). Last year I released a CD of Wallon bagpipe music. The title of the album is "Violette et Cerise". All the material is traditional except for a couple of our own compositions. Recently I have decided to take up the tin whistle a bit more seriously and now I am teaching it myself (I am a very good teacher). Although I don't quite read music a site like this one provides me with an invaluable source of written material.
