"deletion of discussions which are basicly questions about if there are any active sessions in a particular town."

i know its against the law, and thats why these discussions/questions always get deleted.

if you're trying to find an active session when you're away on holiday etc, i think the acceptable procedure is;

check in the sessions database; where you will find a plethora of interesting, but nevertheless useless, out of date information.

or

establish one or two members here who live in the town you are interested in, and send them an personal email.
which is fine, except it requires one to specifically bother someone else.
this also assumes that the members regularly checks for email on the address they used to join here (i dont)

bearing in mind some of the inane stuff that is posted here and left undeleted, i would prefer to see dumbassed session inquiries given the same treatment.

its actually a good way to prompt up to date info.

or am i missing something?

I agree. I have had this same problem.

Re: deletion of discussions which are basicly questions about if there are any active sessions in a particular town.

and another thing,
most people who play in sessions do not have their "ear to the ground"; in my experience few players can name more that 2 or 3 active sessions, let alone recommend them.
this suggests that contacting members here would be equally fruitless.

Re: deletion of discussions which are basicly questions about if there are any active sessions in a particular town.

The chances are pretty good that this thread will also have a limited shelf life since one of the other things which are against "the rules" are meta-discussions.

So it is all an interesting Catch-22.

A meta-discussion is a discussion about discussions.

Re: deletion of discussions which are basicly questions about if there are any active sessions in a particular town.

ok, i understood;
this is really a more global point about people trying in vain to get a few tunes when away from home. the recommended procedures doesnt work, hence people post Qs in discussions,
this isnt a discussion about discussions, its a discussion about the *deletion of* discussions.
aha!

if this gets deleted, i will dowse myself in petrol and sing danny boy.
you have been warned.
