Greg M

i am a 40 something male, who just found the love for an Irish flute (penny whistle, etc.
I am into - healing chakras, using essential oils to do as much energy healing as possible (heal the energy and the body may be able to fight off the other stuff.
I use massage therapy, gemstones and pendulums to assist people in healing.
I also use a special brand of tarot cards - that instruct people how to move past their present 'rut' and how to proceed in a healthy and healing manner.
I use a version of Jin Shin Do as well, to help further adjust people's energy flows. Depending on the person feet, I may do some adjustments there (but I don't deal with really ugly or stinky feet).
I have managed to finally get my own therapy room, that is quite relaxing for others and myself (however the kids tend to raid my room on a regular basis - but I can't complain as they don't touch my crystals, oils or other oddities I may have in my room.
I work with developmentally challenged adults, who range in needs from supervision to full 24 hour care. I have been in the developmental services sector for 23 years and still like it.
I have found that the use of certain oils, and hand massages can prevent a person from 'acting out' if done before the person gets aggressive. A gentle touch to the neck and hands can have amazing results.
In this field I had been a supervisor in a 'behavioural' houses for 14 years, but after my lucky wake up call (a small stroke) I realized it was time, to resign the supervisor role and work as a hands on care provider. I much more enjoy the non-supervisor role (but because of the knowledge that I have as a person who hs worked with behaviours and have been a supervisor I get asked for a lot of advice (more than most front line workers. That is ok with me, you can take the supervisor out of the position but you can never take the supervisor out of the person. (yes, I get placed in a semi-supervisor role with each shift, as I am such a senior staff member.
But, that way I am able to show the other staff that the household needs can be taken care of and the people that we support are people first.
I still train alot of the new staff and get an idea for t he ones that are going to make it in this field and those that are jsut there for the job.
I like to instill into people, that a positive work environment is a MUST and that you can still remain positive when it feels like the falls are coming down (trust me I have had plenty of those days and they are tiring.
I have a lovely wife of 18 years, and two beautiful daughters ( if only they had been born ugly, life would be so much easier.
This is so far from left field, but I was blesses to be with my mother when she passed, and I thank her for that gift each day (I still want to slap her some days for doing to me what she did as she died) but with her passing and seeing the life slowly leave a body changed me for ever. ANd because it was so sudden it made me truly appreciate the life that we live each day ( don't get me wrong, I don't go around hugging tree's, and being sweet and kind to everyone I meet --- not from this boy you ain't - but I do like to see people DEAL with their 'issues' before it is to late and I encourage people to live a positive life (but realistic at the same time.
I love life and I like my life (their are days when there isn;t enough Mydol in my house hold to keep everyone sane --- but I learn to live with it )and no I do not suggest people gouging their ears out with an ice pick.
I believe we are all given our lot in life and we just do with it as best we can.
For now, that is all I can think of
Greg
