hey im rachel, im 15 and basically......IM TRAD MAD!!i play *big deeeep breath* the whistles both normal ones and low whistles,the fiddle/violin (both genres), piano,drums,bodhrán,trad guitar and i can mess about on the wooden flute!oh and i sing(both trad,sean ós and a bit of everything else)!!!i listen to mcgoldrick,frankie gavin, flook, kila, dervish, seamie o'dowd,matt molloy,eileen ivers(who comes from where i live),breda and all the smyth family and a rake of others.i had a whistle teacher in national school (the great tommy doherty of 'Céide') but now i as they say "flying solo"!:L i taught myself the low whistles,bodhrán,guitar,trad piano and fiddle.to be honest i didnt REALLY have that much work to do in teachin myself the l.whistles or the fiddle but even though i play classical piano yopu wouldnt believe how hard it is to change to trad!!!!i can learn tunes any way basically but i prefer learnin by ear.i play sessions in the gateway hotel in swinford and shazzy macs in kilkelly.highlight of my trad life... havin the honour of joinin a session in bearnadearg with mcgoldrick,grace kelly, alan kelly and a rake of bloody gifted musicians!!!twas UNREAL!!!!!
