Tony O'Rourke

I play guitar, tenor banjo, mandoline and do a bit of singing. Along with Gerry Gaffney I run the Irish Guitar Podcast www.irishguitarpod.com. I've backed up many visting musicians including Martin Hayes,John Carty, and Brendan Mulkere.
Apart from Irish music I have a great love of bluegrass and gospel music, and also jazz.
My favorite musicians would include Mick O'Connor(banjo), Nuala Hehir, Anne Conroy Burke,The Mulcahys,Kevin Griffin. In jazz it's Ruby Braff(cornet), Oscar Peterson(piano),Joe Pass and Ted Greene(guitars), and in the bluegrass field my 2 favorites would be The Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.
I teach music at home here in Melbourne, and play at the local sessions and perform at some of the festivals and quieter folk clubs.
