So yeah, actually my name is Melissa but I'm under the impression that if my fiddle teacher see's this she will laugh at me. Alot. So I liked my secret identity!
Live in the North of Scotland.
I'm teaching a school teacher! How ironic!
I play fiddle, have done for 7 or 8 years now. I play piano too [but all too classically for my liking.] I quite like to sing as well but I don't really ever get the chance too.
Hopefully going to uni next year to do traditional music. This is mainly as there is nothing else I want to study and 4 years worth of music, gigs, lectures, tunes and sessions will keep me very happy!
I love Scottish traditional music mainly. Aidan O'Rourke completely amazes me. Along with Anna Massie, Lauren MacColl, Gordon Gunn and Adam Sutherland.
Apparently I'm very knowledgable. That was only to prove to my teacher that I wasn't stupid and I wasn't a complete waste of time. Then I realised that this type of music is amazing! So I started to learn everything I could about musicians, tunes and just anything I happened to read!
I have come to have a thing against sheet music, especially when it includes definate bowing!
The best advice ever given on this site has to be: LISTEN!!
