I'm a middle-aged second-generation Irish/American, first-generation Californian. I am an early intermediate guitarist who would like to accompany Irish ballads better when I sing to them for family and friends. Have not been able to find any good tab on that subject. Lots on American folk, but none on Irish folk.
What inspired me to embark on this path was seeing an Irish guitar player/singer in a New York Irish pub doing the usual classic rock stuff. I asked if he knew any Irish songs and he said, "No, but it's a bottomless pit of good stuff."
The next question that came to mind was, "Why aren't you performing those then?" But then I thought I wouldn't point any fingers and leave that to myself.
