pavlf

Paul F: fiddle player and occasional or perhaps even part-time guitarist, from cumbria, spent loads of time in ireland and Brittany and etc and all the rest, but now living in Lancaster. I'm mainly an irish(ish) player, but with strictly not strictly but still strictly traditional leanings. I've got interests ... that might be better? Currently playing in a semi-balkan band with a few others, but generally get my irish fix with ian francis (an excellent fiddle player) who lives up in Maryport, Cumbria, Joe Murphy (whistle player here in Lancaster), Roger Purves (bouzouki) , Bev Whelan (flute), Davey Lythe (fiddle), Gordon Johnston (banjo), Steve (pipes from Clitheroe) and whoever else happens along.

Fiddle playing influences, among the many, would be people like Liam Lewis, Columbkille - I never did know his last name! - fanche whateverhisnameis from Brittany, and of course Ian Francis. Indirectly via recordings and gigs and the like the usual suspects such as Kevin Burke (to start with), Frankie Gavin, Cathal Hayden, Tommy Peoples, Martin Hayes, Tolla and Mary Custy and many many more too numerous to mention ...
