I am Pipe Major Ryan Morrison, the "Birmingham Bagpiper," a Professional Ceremonial Bagpiper performing for weddings, funerals, and all other services anywhere in the state of Alabama and throughout the region. I am an accomplished award-winning solo bagpipe competitor, as well as the Pipe Major and Director of the Birmingham-based award-winning bagpipe band the Heritage Pipes & Drums. In addition, I am a competing member of the Bushmills Irish Pipers Pipe Band of San Francisco's Grade 3 band as well as the instructor for the first ever school-sponsored piping program in the state of Alabama at the Evangel Classical Christian School in Alabaster. I have been featured in an HBO documentary about the deadly MacDonald Chapel tornado of 1998 and can be heard piping in a local television advertisement for the Ross Bridge Golf Resort recorded by Airwave Recording Studios. I have also been featured as a guest musician on albums with professional recording artist Jeff Sauceda and Celtic Harpist Cynthia Lynn Douglass. I was recently recognized by the Alabama Celtic Association and awarded an Honors Award in recognition of my commitment to the Celtic cultural arts in Alabama. I have joined because I have an interest in Irish piping after the fashion of Terry Tully, and I am currently learning the penny whistle. I also enjoy arranging Irish tunes for the pipes.
