I live in Baltimore, MD which is blessed with an active and very welcoming traditional community and J. Patrick's Pub in Locust Point -- center of it all. I'm a relative newcomer to the trad scene (beginning year three), coming from playing silver flute and saxophone.
Play an Eamonn Cotter simple flute which I had the pleasure of picking up from Eamonn personally at his home/workshop. What a gentleman! It was the first day of a 16 day visit to Ireland and he wanted me to take the flute with me and pay him later since I would need the Euros for our holiday. We struck a deal and I paid half then and half on a second visit two weeks later. His generous and trusting offer told me a lot about him and the people involved in this music.
