Hi, my name is Jen and I play mandolin exclusively. ( I have a tenor guitar and a fiddle as well , but neither have yet really worked very well for me).
I suppose most of what I play is classified as "fiddle tunes" , but I prefer the ones that seem to be "of Celtic origin". I can't seem to feel emotionally divided (yet) about whether a tune is originally IrishTraditionalMusic, or from northern latitudes of Americas, or British Isles/Scotland, and don't really have an opinion at this point. ( :: sigh :: I will learn eventually. ) I also play a bunch of other odd random bits, "gypsy" tunes, Latinesque choros/tangos, etc, etc, ....but ... most definitely not bluegrass. :-)
I live in the mountains of the NorthBay of California. No sessions around here that don't cost an arm and a leg in petroleum to get to, so I play with friends 'round here, sometimes I get to sit in at friends' gigs at the local eateries , farmers markets, winery events, ( bicycle races ! :-) , and such. Just starting out again playing out with friends, after a long sad rest through the last decade and a half.
So much music to learn, and so little time!
