Originally from Newfoundland, currently living in New England.
Played keyboard as a teenager (ballads, pop, etc.), horrible at guitar lessons. As I matured, my passion exponentially grew for my Newfoundland and Irish heritage and the associated music.
I started on the tin whistle, then the boshran, now the mandolin. I love the whistle for its simplicity and traditional value. I love the bodhran for its history and uniqueness, and despite the negative reputation (understandably), I love the tonal rhythms it produces when played well (Sean from GBS as an example). I love the mandolin beacause it suits me ergonmically, its not too common yet, and can be applied to other genres like alternative rock.
My level is on the beginner side of intermediate, but my research/knowledge surpasses that of some skilled players. My fiance is learning fiddle and we hope to some day play duets at open mic nights, and such.
Please write me, I'm always looking for people to meet and play with.
Cheers!
